BESTMED TSHWANE CLASSIC GOING AHEAD!

BESTMED TSHWANE CLASSIC TOP FIVE AT SA SPORTS AWARDS
November 15, 2019

The Bestmed Tshwane Classic, presented in partnership with the City of Tshwane, is in full swing as planned on 1 November 2020 with adherence to Covid-19 regulations.

While the Hectic Promotions organising body is expecting a further relaxation of Covid-19 regulations in the coming weeks, it is uncertain at this point how many riders will be allowed to take part in the race.

Riders will be assisted on a first come first served basis up to the permitted entry totals. Riders who fall outside the allotted entry allowance can transfer their entry fee to any other Hectic Promotions event. Our next event is the Joburg Classic, which takes place on 21 November 2020.

Entries are open on www.tshwaneclassic.co.za

“After much deliberation, we took the decision to continue with the race. We felt that we are obliged to present the race on its traditional date this year after the leeway government has now allowed within Covid 19 regulations.” says race owner Mauritz Meyer of the Hectic Promotions non-profit organisation.

“We were considering the consequences of postponing the event without a date but we are committed to present the event within the current regulations – which allow for a strict Covid-19 governed staging but a significant staging nonetheless – to show our good faith and commitment to our loyal cyclists and to Bestmed Medical Scheme, our sponsor. It is also the only mass participation cycling race which is still going to take place in 2020. Our cyclists are looking forward to that.”

Hectic Promotions has already presented two races governed by Covid-19 regulations, the most recent being the Cycle4CANSA event at Sun City over the past weekend.

Meyer says they are also cognisant of the many charities who benefit from the staging of the Bestmed Tshwane Classic. “While we have made contributions to these charities throughout the year, these simply haven’t been enough. Although the event might not be allowed the same participant totals as last year, it will still provide a significant platform to enable charity donations.

“We thank our headline sponsor, Bestmed, for their support and we look forward to delivering a delightful experience for cyclists in the streets of Tshwane on 1 November,” he concluded.
